manusia, kata guruku, sangat sulit jika diminta jadi prajurit. jauh lebih gampang kalau disuruh jadi ketua, karena itu tabi’atnya: menyenangi posisi atas. kalau mau mengerjakan pekerjaan bawah, apalagi jika berhadapan dengan orang pintar, jarang yang bersedia menundukkan egonya sementara.

Menurut survei Pew Internet and American Life Project, pengguna layanan jejaring sosial Facebook yang semula menjadi alat untuk menjalin persahabatan di dunia maya kini kondisinya berkebalikan; semakin tidak bersahabat. Melalui riset yang dilakukan melalui telepon kepada 2.277 orang Amerika dewasa yang menggunakan Facebook didapatkan bahwa:
- Anggota Facebook memilih-milih teman justru karena semakin banyaknya jumlah pengguna jejaring sosial tersebut, mereka juga menghilangkan profil yang dianggap terlalu pribadi
- 63 persen dari mereka telah menghapus beberapa nama dari daftar pertemanan, memutuskan pertalian pertemanan dengan beberapa orang.
- Sebanyak 44 persen menghapus komentar yang dibuat temannya pada profil mereka. Sementara 37 persen dari jumlah itu menghapus nama mereka dari foto-foto yang di-tag.
- 67 persen perempuan menyatakan mereka telah mengatur kontrol privasi media sosial pada tingkat yang paling tinggi. Sementara para pria yang melakukan tindakan serupa sebanyak 48 persen.
- masih ada 20 persen dari pengguna jejaring sosial ini yang memilih pengaturan supaya siapa saja dapat melihat profilnya, kendati pengaturan privasi akun Facebook-nya sedemikian ketat,
- Kesimpulannya, survei Pew Internet and American Life Project menunjukkan sekitar dua pertiga pengguna Internet menggunakan jaringan sosial. Mereka semakin sadar akan keamanan data pribadi yang ada di dalamnya, sehingga harus memilih siapa saja dapat menilik akun Facebook, Google+, dan Twitter-nya.
